And as if that weren’t enough, a Swiss organization has also been recently caught red-handed: They provided HUF 887 million in support for Oraculum 2020 Kft., the firm behind the fake news portal Ezalényeg.hu, which is affiliated with Democratic Coalition (DK). At the same time, secret service reports also revealed that HUF 160 million more was paid by AD than the amount assumed so far, which means that instead of the previous HUF 3 billion, a total of HUF 4 billion worth of illicit funding ended up with the Hungarian opposition.
At this point, we must make something clear. In Hungary, the law on the operation and financial management of political parties prohibits parties from accepting financial contributions from foreign organizations and non-Hungarian citizens; it also prohibits anonymous donations. Period.
Did the always-so-concerned members of the international, liberal press corps care to comment on this, or even cover the story? You guessed it.
It’s amusing how it seems that our political opponents get a free pass from mainstream media outlets when they are caught in the act. Just imagine for a second that they had even the tiniest proof of any wrongdoing in the Fidesz-KDNP election campaign. I’m not taking a huge risk by saying that these papers wouldn’t stop publishing articles about it for months. Or maybe even years.
But no, the left-liberals get an exemption. They simply bury the story.
Oh, on burying a story: It’s been a while since I read something about the European Parliament’s large-scale corruption scandal. I wonder what’s going on in the background…
