Avengers: Endgame sets new Hungarian box office record

The new Avengers movie sold 343,240 tickets in a country of just under ten million, meaning that 3.5 percent of Hungarians went to see it in just four days last weekend

Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, the 22nd instalment of the superhero franchise set a new box office record on its opening weekend in Hungary.

According to Rmx.news, data from the Association of Hungarian Film Distributors showed that this past weekend the new Avengers movie sold 343,240 tickets in a country of just under ten million, meaning that 3.5 percent of Hungarians went to see it in just four days between April 25-28th.

It also raked in HUF 540.5 million (US$1.87 mln), leaving the other nine most viewed movies with less combined viewers that it had alone.

With this, the latest Marvel movie also took the all-time box office record, followed by the 2017 Star Wars: The last Jedi and the 2018 Avengers prequel, Infinity War.

Globally, the movie hauled in over US$1.2 billion on its opening weekend, US$350 million of it in the United States and Canada.
