The Budapest bomber has been sentenced to life in prison.
The trial of Gergely P. László ended yesterday with a life sentence for ‘arranging a terrorist act’ and for ‘committing a terrorist act’. He will be eligible for parole only after at least 30 years of time has been served.
On September 24th, 2016, Gergely P. László injured two police officers with a self-made bomb on Teréz Boulevard in Budapest. The policewoman and her colleague suffered serious hearing impairment. One nail even entered the female’s cerebellum (“little brain”), broke her skull and shin.
Shortly after the incident, the sentenced man sent an e-mail to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he wrote down how he made the bomb. He also wrote another email which was not sent but found on his computer where he wrote that he would commit another detonation unless he was paid 1 million Euros.
