Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Hungary’s military is constantly being upgraded and strengthened, adding that the Hungarian Armed Forces are being rearmed and given the most advanced equipment.
Presenting awards at the Damjanich barracks in Szentes, in south-eastern Hungary, on Thursday, Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Hungary’s government had recognized in time that the world had entered "an era of dangers", and had begun upgrading its military before several other European countries.
The Hungarian Armed Forces, he said, had to be capable of guaranteeing the security of the Hungarian people even in a war.
"For us, Hungary’s security comes first," the minister said, adding that society was gradually getting a better understanding of the country’s defense forces.
