Budapest Airport is aiming to provide customers with direct flights from Hungary to USA by the summer of 2018, it has been revealed.
Airportal.hu writes that Liszt Ferenc International Airport’s operator is negotiating with seven airlines about the relaunch of transatlantic flights.
The airport operator is not only negotiating with European and American airlines, but also other airlines regarding direct flights between Budapest and New York or Chicago.
The Dubai-Budapest flight of Emirates Airlines could continue to New York and return on the same route as one example, sources claim.
Airport executives have also been working on launching other intercontinental lines like Budapest-Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai.
Budapest Airport has brought forward the construction of its new terminal to be completed within two years at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. The new terminal will open in 2020 and will extend the check-in and the security check capacity of the airport.
