Justice Minister Judit Varga has said effective cooperation in Europe requires continuous dialogue between member states.
Following a session of the European Union’s General Affairs Council on Tuesday, the justice minister expressed Hungary’s readiness to be a partner in such dialogues. The meeting touched upon the European Democracy Action Plan, but the minister added that “contentious issues remain”, such as ones around measures to promote democratic participation.
The minister also mentioned the Minority SafePack initiative as an example, which she said the European Commission had rejected despite the more than 1 million signatures it attracted. “In order to address the migration challenges more effectively, we consider it essential that the EU pays special attention to the Western Balkans region,” Minister Varga said.
