Hungary's famous Pilis Bike route has been extended to cover 350km of land and is now accessible by train, it has been announced.
At the inauguration of the new track, Máriusz Révész, government commissioner for an ‘Active Hungary’, said that the cooperation between the forestry, the municipalities of nearby Kesztölc and Piliscsév and local civic organizations is ‘exemplary’. He added that they plan to build the Kesztölc-Esztergom bike route very soon.
Member of Parliament for the region, Pál Völner, said that the new network of bike routes bridge the gap between the tourist sights and nearby towns. This poses a great opportunity for local tourism, he added.
The new paths have been made accessible from the train stations of both Piliscsaba-Klotildliget and Piliscsév.
In recent years, Pilis Parkerdő Zrt. has registered an average of 1.5 million visits annually - the current projects respond to this growing interest.
