A heated exchange of words has recently erupted between the two leaders after French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to crack down on racial Islamism in light of the beheading of educator Samuel Paty two weeks ago by a 18-year-old Chechen refugee.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to Macron's initiative by suggesting that the French President might be in need of "some sort of mental treatment."
