Following a year-long renovation project, Olof Palme House - or Millennium House - is set to reopen to the public on October 26th.
The building will be home to an exhibition exploring the rich and versatile history of the City Park. Home to the first-ever National General Exhibition held in 1885, the building marked a breakthrough for the cultural sector of Industrial Revolution-era Hungary.
The show will feature displays detailing the developments taking place in this period, alongside the rapid changes taking place towards the beginning of the 20th century.
The reconstruction of the 130-year-old building took about a year and was completed in March. Coordinated by the Liget Project, the works aim to reconstruct the original glory of the culturally and historically significant building, while also modernizing the site in accordance with contemporary tastes.
“2019 is the year of relaunches,” remarked Benedek Gyorgyevics, the CEO of the Liget Project. Firstly, the National Restoration and Storage Centre was launched in the summer of 2019, soon to be followed by Olof Palme House, Milennium House and other outside spaces include a new playground.
