PM Orbán sends Hungary's condolences to Sri Lanka following Easter bombings

“On behalf of the Hungarian people, I wish to offer my sincere condolences to relatives of the victims, and wish the hundreds of people who were injured in these base attacks a swift recovery,” PM Orbán said

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has written to Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister to offer his condolences following the Easter Sunday bombings.

The prime minister said Hungary continues to remain a committed partner in the fight against terrorism and religious extremism.

In his message, PM Orbán told Ranil Wickremesinghe that he was shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the “monstrous terrorist attacks”.

“On behalf of the Hungarian people, I wish to offer my sincere condolences to relatives of the victims, and wish the hundreds of people who were injured in these base attacks a swift recovery,” PM Orbán wrote.

“During these difficult hours of mourning, we stand with the people of Sri Lanka in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.

In the bombings carried out against hotels and Christian churches in several parts of Sri Lanka, nearly 300 people lost their lives, and a further 450 were injured.
