Budapest's Semmelweis University is among the top 200 in the world for Pharmacy education, according to a fresh ranking released by British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
According to Rmx.news, in the broadest, life and medical sciences category the university was ranked 308th while in the narrower medical training category it was placed between 201-250 (with identical scores to other institutions), making it the best specialized university in Hungary.
The predecessor of Semmelweis University - the Budapest-based medical faculty of the Royal Hungarian Science University - was established in 1769 by Empress Maria Theresa. It is the oldest medical faculty in Hungary.
The QS specialty rankings are based on four criteria: number of quotations from the university's scientific research papers, the prestige of the institution within academic circles, employer opinions about the university's graduates and bibliography references to the university.
Two other Hungarian universities, the Debrecen University and the Szeged Science University also made it into the QS ranking in the 451-500 bracket.
