Following a mostly warm and dry March and April, Hungary has been hit by days of cold rains and snow in some parts.
On Hungary’s highest peak, the Kékestető (1,015 meters above sea level) six centimetres of snow fell on Monday, something that hasn’t happened in 62 years at this time of year.
In the western part of the country, in the Kőszeg Mountains (the easternmost part of the Alps), there was also snowfall of six centimetres and the temperature dropped below freezing.
