Tristan Azbej, state secretary at the foreign ministry, said on Facebook that the Hungarian government condemns instigation against religious or ethnic communities, as well as any acts violating the dignity of members of those groups.
Referring to recent attacks against Christians in Pakistan’s Jaranwala region, the state secretary said the violence “cannot be justified by any argument”. He welcomed remarks by the acting prime minister of Pakistan firmly condemning the attacks and pledging to bring the perpetrators to court. “We are firmly committed to promoting a dialogue between different religions and cultures,” he said, expressing “sincere solidarity with Pakistan’s attacked Christian community”. The Hungarian government supports needy Christians and other communities in other countries through the Hungary Helps program, he said.
