The highly-anticipated V4 conference titled “The Future of Europe” will take place in Budapest tomorrow with an exciting line-up.
Held in the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár), located at the foot of the Buda Castle, which also houses the headquarters of the Hungarian Presidency of the V4, the conference will be held in the event hall, which is able to accommodate 500 people.
The event offers up an extraordinary opportunity to analyze the full array of political and cultural processes that help shape the future of Europe.
Leading politicians, renowned professors and well-known public figures will share their views with each other and with conference participants.
The Visegrad Group is destined to play a prominent role in shaping the future of our continent, which is why a large number of keynote contributors will arrive from V4 countries and will be joined by lecturers arriving from elsewhere in Europe and the Western hemisphere.
The five main discussion points are as follows:
Culture Wars, Clashes of Cultures in Europe
Is the war for Europe’s body and soul a winnable one? Can we defeat censorship, the shaming of those who think differently, the increasing cultural self-hatred in Europe? Are the remains of Europe’s social fiber still savable or is the European lifestyle doomed to change irreversibly? What is, if there is, the secret to the vitality of Central and Eastern European countries? Do they stand a chance of preserving their values?
Migration, Resettlement and the Future of Europe
Will Europe become the new melting pot? Shall we, out of cultural guilt or simple calculation, sacrifice Christianity, freedom and our way of life? Or should we retreat to our fortress, defend ourselves and strengthen our values and cohesion within? Is the creation of the New European Man realistic through migration?
Geopolitical Challenges -A European Army, NATO and the Borders of Europe
With the UK leaving the Union, we shall face a new situation, and make important decisions: where do we define the borders of Europe? What is the ambition of the EU? With whom shall we compete and with whom to cooperate? Do we need a European army and if so, will it consist of soldiers or machines and algorithms? What threatens and what guarantees the safety and security of European citizens today and in 2030 and in 2050?
Is Artificial Intelligence our Future?
Digitalization has allowed us to create extremely complicated structures; it makes everything faster and connects us all. Today machine learning and artificial intelligence threaten only the jobs of our lower middle class; tomorrow, it may radically transform humanity’s own identity or even our physical existence. While we create ever faster internet connections and self-driving vehicles, technology transforms us, too: our health, our way of life and even the way how we make war. Can humans stay human? Will soldiers be needed in the wars of the future? What prevents AI from bringing the Apocalypse to mankind?
Visegrad Four – the Engine of Europe’s Economy
Economic Development: SME, Foreign Trade, Emerging Markets; The Economy of the Future – Megatrends, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Central Europe. What opportunities do the emerging giants of the world economy, i.e. China, India or Indonesia present for us? Does geographical position matter? What is the secret of successful economic policies? Will our region be able to jump several stairs at once and make Europe become a leading force in the future world economy?
