The Hungarian Cultural Center New York and Netflix put on a special VIP screening of On Body and Soul at the Whitby Hotel in the Big Apple on Sunday.
With just a week to go before the Academy Awards, Ildikó Enyedi's Oscar-nominated movie was shown to a packed industry crowd, followed by a Q&A session with the director and screenwriter.
Indiewire journalist and member of the New York Film Critics Circle, Eric Kohn moderated the evening, and the screening proved a huge success with both locals and Hungarian expats living in the city.
The event was attended by members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, professors from the largest higher education institute producing films in the United States, the New York University, representatives of the New York Women in Film and Television, film festivals, the Museum of the Moving Image and others.
Máté Vincze, head of the Hungarian Cultural Center, welcomed the crowd before the screening and highlighted that Hungary has received three Oscar-nominations in as many years, underlining the accomplishments of Hungarian filmmaking, which is currently experiencing a new golden era.
