Vodafone is providing free technology training for girls between the ages of eight and 18 to help create gender equality and balance in the industry.
Vodafone’s Technology in Education Foundation is very aware that the future is determined by the direction technological development will take, and through its Skool flagship project aims to develop and educate a future generation.
The phone giant’s mission is to “make a positive and lasting impact on Hungarian society” by building a community which supports the professional career and success of girls in the world of technology while assisting in reaching gender equality and balance in this sector.
A new initiative to “Plan and build a robot together!” debuted on January 26th, which introduced participants to the world of robotics and is the latest project aimed at educating a younger generation.
“The economic potential of robotics and machine learning is being recognized by more and more industries. There is already a huge demand for professionals who are familiar with this area and this need is increasing,” said Zsuzsanna Tóth, the HR deputy CEO of Vodafone Hungary.
Skool is already a great success story. One of their first students, Zsófia Bugir attended classes when she was 16-years-old, and knew nothing about programming languages. Three years later she is studying IT economy at Corvinus University and will work as a trainee for Prezi during her summer break.
