“If we want to retain Hungary’s freedom and sovereignty, we must occupy Brussels and bring change to the European Union,” PM Orbán said.
This will be the first time in Hungary that the EP and the municipal elections are held on the same day.
Europe is based on a progressive, liberal ideology, PM Orbán said, adding that the notions of nation and national pride were considered with suspicion.
The prime minister said Hungary would be punished under the European Union’s new migration pact unless the country was willing to accommodate migrants.
The Center for Fundamental Rights, Társadalomkutató, the Nézőpont Institute, Real-PR 93 and Századvég all found that Fidesz-KDNP would win seats in the EP election.
Judit Varga said that in 2024 the ruling alliance of Fidesz and the Christian Democrats would work to put Hungary “back on the path of development” and preserve the country’s sovereignty.
Máté Kocsis said that as long as the current “corrupt Brussels elite” stays in power and the national right-wing in the West cannot get stronger, there will be no major change.
