State Secretary András Tállai said the government must pay special attention to pensioners, and the ministry is monitoring inflationary trends.
The Hungarian economy is on an upswing and back to its performance level before the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
Payments will be made to 2.5 million eligible recipients such as pensioners and others receiving pension-type benefits.
The government’s family protection scheme, which is being continued despite the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, has helped over 220,000 families so far.
“This year, pensions will be increasing by 2.7 percent, the increased pensions will be arriving in bank accounts on 11 January and the post office will begin deliveries on 16 January; pensions will be increasing by an annual 42,000 forints in the case of an average pension,” Bence Rétvári said
Healthcare, law enforcement and public administration workers will receive pay rises, and the minimum wage will also be increased in 2019
