The European Parliament’s plenary session has voted in favor of a mid-term revision of the bloc’s 2021-2027 budget, including 50 billion euros in long-term aid for Ukraine.
Minister Szijjártó told a press conference that Hungary urged a ceasefire and peace talks.
The foreign minister said a guarantee had been received that the money to be paid to Ukraine would not be the money that should be originally granted to Hungary.
The prime minister said EU leaders had negotiated for many hours over “whether to support Ukraine and if so, in what way and with how much money”.
“We Hungarians will not give up our pro-peace position, we will not send weapons or take part in the war,” Balázs Orbán said on Facebook.
Gergely Gulyás said Ukraine aid should be separated from the EU budget and provided on a bilateral basis.
