The government has confirmed that more than 80,000 families raising children have applied for home renovation subsidies since the launch of the scheme.
State Secretary Róbert Zsigó said the applications have been made for around HUF 120 billion (EUR 326.1m) in subsidies. In most cases families used the subsidies to renovate the interior of their homes and to replace or renovate roofs, as well as to install or replace a solar panel, a solar system, to replace external windows and to install kitchen appliances. Under the two-year scheme launched in January, the government is offering to cover up to half of home renovation costs, with a grant capped at HUF 3 million, for families with at least one child. Families may take out a subsidised loan to cover the other half of project costs.
