The foreign minister has announced that the government is launching a new program to support Hungarian businesses that commit to investing at least HUF 560 million (EUR 1.6m) to save jobs in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Péter Szijjártó said the European Commission had given approval to Hungary supporting businesses that commit to making investments in order to save jobs without an upper limit. Applications for funding can be submitted from next week, until the end of September.
The investments must be implemented in the following two years. The amount of the support can reach up to 50 percent of the investment amount, Minister Szijjártó said, that is HUF 280 million in the case of an investment of HUF 560 million.
Minister Szijjártó said Hungary had successfully completed the first phase of its epidemic response efforts, the one that involved healthcare defense, and is ready to fight the second phase, the one about economic defence, in cooperation with Hungarian businesses and people. The aim of the program is to help companies retain jobs and create new ones, he added.
