New outdoor city arena plans unveiled for FINA World Championships

Here's a sneak peak at the new outdoor city arena for the 17th FINA World Championships which will be held over 17 days this July, in Hungary.

Hailed as one of the world's greatest water sport competitions, the 2017 World Aquatics Championships will be held in Budapest, from July 14-30, 2017.

Events will be held in two Hungarian cities, housing five sport venues for six different disciplines and roughly 2.500 international althetes.

Two of the competition venues will be located in Budapest: The new Danube Arena, an indoor swimming pool complex for swimming and diving on the eastern bank of the Danube just north of Margaret Island, and the Alfréd Hajós National Swimming Stadium, on Margaret Island for water polo. Open water swimming and high diving events will be held at Lake Balaton.

The synchronized swimming venues will be located in the city park of Budapest, at the outdoor city arena, pictured above.
