The prime minister said the new US president's inauguration meant that "proponents of the global liberal ideology have lost the capital of the greatest power in the Western world."
The foreign minister said Donald Trump and his pro-peace policies could ensure the best chance for an end to the war.
"We are in continuous talks and will strike a good deal with the new US administration," PM Orbán said in a Facebook post.
Hungary and the United States now share the same positions on the issues of border protection and immigration and gender policy.
The foreign minister said Hungary had battled not to be pushed into war in recent years, nor to be forced to accept migrants.
Hungary's presidency of the Council of the European Union, which concluded at the end of December, is not merely the end of a chapter but the start of a transformative period, according to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
"Ten days until the pro-peace Donald Trump is inaugurated. The world is about to change," Tamás Menczer said.
The prime minister said that "these days when two people, two men, sit down to talk either in Europe or America, they can certainly not avoid having a word about peace and about war".
Minister Szijjártó also said that currently there was an opportunity for better than-ever political relations to develop between Hungary and the US.
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and 4iG chief executive Gellert Jaszai were also present.

Minister Szijjártó said that if the former president was re-elected, then there would be “a huge chance of bringing peace to the world, including Europe.
