The Hungarian arm of Rosatom will install a hydroelectric power plant in South Africa.
Ganz Engineering and Energy Production Machinery LLC concluded an agreement with South Africa’s Blue World Power and Energy Services PTY Ltd to build the plant.
The agreement states that the small hydroelectric power plant will be constructed at Mpompomo waterfall, in the Mpumalanga region, about 300 km east of Johannesburg.
Alekszandr Merten, CEO of Rosatom’s project integration firm, Rosatom International Network, stated that this is their first contract with Blue World Power and Energy Services PTY.
The plant will be the first of many to provide much needed energy to parts of the region and each will be below 1MW of power output.
Each power plant is capable of providing electricity for 250-400 households.
