The new Ambassador of the United States to Hungary arrived in Budapest on Friday.
David B. Cornstein was greeted on behalf of the Hungarian government by Levente Magyar, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The new ambassador, along with his wife, Sheila, were also greeted at Ferenc Liszt International Airport by the chargé dʼaffairs of the embassy, David Kostelancik, and embassy staff.
The 78-year-old businessman is a newcomer to diplomacy. He previously served as chairman of Pinnacle Advisors, a financial and investment consultancy firm, and held top positions at Finlay Enterprise.
Cornstein has also held the post of chairman of the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation and vice-chairman of New York’s Economic Development Corporation. He was also chairman of the New York State Olympic Games Commission and a board member of the Battery Park City Authority.
He has also been voted Man of the Year by the New York-based Chemotherapy Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
He holds degrees from Lafayette College and from New York University.
